Give a one-time gift.

We know this isn’t an easy time for anyone. Monetary donations of any size are welcomed, and needed! Please give what you can to help. One time and recurring donation options are available: Click here to give a one-time gift.

Set-up planned giving.

Please also consider including a gift for River City Food Bank in your estate plan. A gift for the Endowment Fund can provide permanent support for our mission to provide nutritionally balanced, three-day emergency food to anyone in Sacramento County experiencing hunger.

There are a variety of ways to give to River City Food Bank through your estate. Some are easy to implement without any assistance; other gifts will require the services of an attorney. Click below for more information

Drop off purchased groceries.

While River City Food Bank purchases some important sources of good nutrition such as protein, donated food is what enables our volunteers to feed so many people on so little money. With recent jumps in the unit cost of bulk food supplies, donations are more important than ever.

You can drop off your donations to us during business hours, arrange for pickup by a volunteer, or donate at any Goodwill Xpress location in the Sacramento area. For a listing of the two dozen locations in the Sacramento area, visit goodwillsacto.org.

Our hours for food donation drop offs are:
11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Monday through Friday

Physical Address:
1800 28th Street
Sacramento, CA 95816

Here are ways that you can contribute to our grocery needs:

  • Purchase and donate $25 gift cards from area grocery stores
  • Organize a food drive
  • Talk to a local grocer about allowing you to collect food, and give people entering the store a “shopping list” for donations that they can give you upon exit
  • Grow and donate fresh produce (tomatoes, squash, corn, fruits), see our Growing Circle program below!
Help us complete the rebuild effort!

  • Donate commercial grade rubber floor mats
  • Contribute historical photos of RCFB or RCCS prior to the 2010 fire

Growing Circle

For people facing tough financial times, it’s hard to provide the fresh produce that is critical to good nutrition. We’re addressing that problem by encouraging people to help through our Growing Circle program, now in its third year.

This year, there are three easy ways to help:

  • Plant a few extra rows of veggies in your own backyard garden, or harvest a little more fruit, and bring the extra to River City Food Bank’s location at 1800 28th Avenue during our business hours.
  • Buy extra fresh produce when you shop at the Wednesday Farmers’ Market at Cesar Chavez Park, and donate it at the handy “Giving Fresh” booth. “Giving Fresh” was created with help from the Downtown Partnership and Senior Gleaners Inc. to help supply River City Food Bank and other area food closets with fresh produce (Farmers Market: 10th and J Streets, Wednesdays from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., May through end of October).
  • If you don’t have a green thumb, you can still help by giving a cash donation toward the purchase of fresh produce! Make your secure online donation here.
  • Oranges, grapefruit, tomatoes, zucchini, plums, cucumbers, lettuce, onions, squash, apricots, peaches, cilantro, apples… whatever you grow, we’d love to have it!
