Last summer we launched the Growing Circle program, inviting area gardeners to grow and donate extra fresh produce, and everyone to help us purchase healthy fresh produce by donating “seed money.”
Our inaugural goals were to raise $10,000 and 10,000 lbs of fresh produce, and we exceeded both goals! Over the summer, everything from cherries to berries, tomatoes to potatoes, flowed in. When we totaled it all up, we had received $11,038.50 in cash donations and 11,033 lbs of fresh produce.
The Growing Circle this year aims to raise 15,000 lbs of fresh food and $15,000 by August 31, in recognition of the growing need.
Here’s how you can help:
- Plant an extra row, or pick more fresh fruits from your backyard fruit trees and share the extra with us.
- If you’re not a gardener – please consider making a donation of $25, $50 or more.
- In thanks, volunteers who grow and donate produce will receive a special “Growing Circle” t-shirt.
When you wear it, we hope you’ll be reminded of the gratitude of the families who come to us – oh, and you’ll be spreading the word, too! Click here to see Margie Erwin modeling last year’s t-shirt at the Slow Food Festival.
of your garden’s goodies and we’ll publish them in our newsletter or on the website!
